Lir Sullivan was captain of the Leon High School football team in 1995 and was voted the team’s most outstanding lineman his senior year. Lir was killed in a car accident at the end of his first year at UF. His family would like to remember Lir in a positive way by helping other Leon High graduates fulfill their dreams with a college education. One scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $250 per year for a total of $1000 over four years of undergraduate studies to a Leon High School senior who displays the values of motivation and perseverance in his or her teenage life. As long as the student maintains the required 2.8 college GPA, the award is granted each semester of attendance at $125 per semester.


• Be a LHS senior graduating with a regular high school diploma
• Plan to attend college during the academic year following graduation
• Must demonstrate excellence in two different areas of personal achievement

-Student Academic History report
-Current Student Schedule
-Essay no longer than 2500 words describing two areas of personal achievement, and addressing: (1) How the student was motivated and how he or she persevered to attain success; (2) What the student believes is the most important aspect of his or her achievement or talents. The essay may include auxiliary materials such as print media, photos, audio, video or other formats that best demonstrate the student’s achievements.
-Two letters of recommendation written by a teacher, coach, community leader, minister or other adult who played a vital role in the student’s achievement. Each letter should indicate how the author knows the student and should discuss one (or both) areas of the student’s accomplishments.
-Clear photograph of applicant
