To provide annual scholarships for students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in education to become a licensed, special education classroom teacher (Intervention Specialist) at an accredited post-secondary institution. Individuals receiving scholarship awards may be enrolled as full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate students. Scholarship recipients may re-apply in subsequent years. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
The criteria used for selection of scholarship recipients include consideration of the following:
a. At least 24 credit hours completed towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in education, with a major or concentration in special education, intervention services, or similar field. At least three of the 24 completed credit hours must be in special education, intervention services, or similar field;
b. Academic achievement as demonstrated by a average to above-average cumulative GPA ; and
c. Need for financial assistance in order to continue undergraduate or graduate studies.
