Janet (Collings) Drayton was an elementary school teacher for 36 years at Kingsbury Elementary School. Mrs. Drayton believed “Education provides a world of Opportunity” for her students. She would routinely spend much of her own money in order to provide materials and field trips for her students to enhance their education. These materials and field trips were those things normal school budgets did not or could not provide. One special project of Mrs. Drayton’s was making sure third grade students at Kingsbury learned the History of La Porte County. This endowment fund was established to provide direct financial support to the classroom teachers at Kingsbury School so they may provide enhanced educational opportunities in the same tradition that Mrs. Drayton provided.
