2017 Pat Hogan Scholarship

To provide annual scholarship(s) to full-time, undergraduate students pursuing a post-secondary course of study in engineering or scientific studies. Applicants must be U.S. citizens whose primary residence is in northwest Ohio or southeast Michigan and who is a graduating senior from high school. It is anticipated that several scholarships of several thousand dollars each will be awarded.

Preference will be given to students attending the following schools: Owens Community College, Toledo, OH; Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA; Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN; Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY; or Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY.

Scholarship recipients may re-apply for additional years of undergraduate study and will be considered for renewal if they maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA and demonstrate progress toward their degree.


The criteria used for selection of scholarship recipients include consideration of the following:
1. U.S. citizen who is a resident of northwest Ohio or southeast Michigan at the time of application;
2. Graduating high school senior who has achieved academic excellence during his/her high school career;
3. Plans to major in engineering or scientific studies at a post-secondary educational institution accredited by one or more of the accrediting bodies belonging to the “Council on Post Secondary Accreditation,” with preference given to students who will attend the post-secondary schools noted above;
4. Need for financial assistance in order to pursue post-secondary education.

The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the information reported on the application form and related attachments; specifically prior academic achievement, individual motivation, ability and potential, work ethic and financial need.
