To provide annual scholarships for full-time, undergraduate students pursuing a degree in: a) a construction-related field within the College of Engineering at The University of Toledo (to include Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering); or b) the Construction Management program at Bowling Green State University; or c) enrolled in the McWhorter School of Building Science program at Auburn University (Auburn, AL). Priority consideration will be given to applicants who graduated from high schools in Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa and Wood counties (OH), Lenawee and Monroe counties (MI), and those attending Auburn University. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
Employees and dependents of employees of the Lathrop Company, its parent company, or any related companies/entities are ineligible to apply for the Robert L. Maxwell and Lathrop/Turner Scholarship.
The criteria used for selection of scholarship recipients include consideration of the following:
a. Financial need;
b. Scholastic aptitude;
c. Prior academic achievement;
d. Individual motivation, ability and potential;
f. Personal interview with the Robert L. Maxwell and Lathrop/Turner Scholarship Advisory Committee (if selected as a finalist). Note: In the case of students from Auburn University, phone calls will be arranged in place of personal interviews.
