To provide annual scholarships for non-traditional students attending Owens Community College (Toledo, OH) who permanently reside in Lucas or Wood County, and who demonstrate financial need. Scholarship awards are for education-related expenses such as tuition, books and related fees. Scholarship awards may be renewable.
The criteria used for selection of scholarship recipients include consideration of the following:
1. U.S. citizen;
2. Attending Owens Community College (Toledo, OH);
3. Reside in Lucas or Wood County, OH;
4. Non-traditional student, defined as meeting one or more of the following criteria:
a. Delayed or postponed college for personal and/or employment reasons and need to pursue further education to improve career opportunities, expand general knowledge and/or train for a new career or job opportunity;
b. Had their college careers interrupted, either by personal or financial difficulties;
c. Work full-time while attending college;
d. Have dependent children;
e. Do not have a high school diploma (may have a GED or other high school completion certificate or did not finish high school);
5. Demonstration of financial need.
