This scholarship encourages student-athletes to succeed on and off the field. Recipients must participate in varsity athletics during the senior year of high school and exhibit the characteristics that define Earl Campbell. The scholarship was established by SPORTyler, Inc. in 2014.

The amount awarded may vary depending on number of scholarships and funds available.


High School / Residency
Recipient must be a graduating senior from a Smith County public or private high school.

Academic Record
The recipient must have achieved a GPA of at least a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in his/her high school.

Other Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must have participated in varsity athletics during the senior year of high school.

Recipients must demonstrate, by a written essay, the characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, community, and the tenacity to persist and overcome adversity and injury in the pursuit of reaching goals.

Financial Need
Financial need will be considered but will not be weighted above other criteria for scholarship selection.

Dependents of scholarship committee members are not eligible to apply. Applicants should be available for a personal interview, if requested.
