2017 WPA Regional Travel Grant

Deadline: February 02 2017 at 06:30 PM HST - CLOSED

This program is inactive or past the deadline.

Winning applicants will receive travel assistance starting at $150 and up to $400 to attend EPA, MPA, RMPA, SEPA, SWPA, or WPA. GEICO is sponsoring the Regional Travel Grant program with $9,000 this year. Annually, a total of $39,600 is available for this program with $6,600 available for WPA.

Application Elements:

•Is this applicant presenting?
•Statement of why applicant should receive funding (incorporates need; how recipient will benefit from travel; how chapter will benefit from applicant's travel; etc.) 250 word limit
•Budget- reasonable use of funds
•Clear explanation of funding secured from other sources (if applicable)
•Faculty advisor endorsement (this is an automated email sent to your faculty advisor- letter of recommendations will not be accepted)

At the time of submission, the applicant must be Psi Chi member and either:
• a graduate student;
• an undergraduate student; or
• a student who is not enrolled but has graduated from their undergraduate program within 6 months of the program deadline.

PRIMARY criteria for selection as a regional travel award winner are applicant need, how the individual will benefit, and how the chapter will benefit.

The travel award should not be depended on to provide 100% of the funding required to attend an event. The applicant should understand that they may not receive all of the funding necessary to travel and should make financial plans accordingly.

Additionally, applicants should consider ways to reduce travel costs when making arrangements. Some suggestions include: sharing rooms; taking public transit; using ground transportation instead of flying; parking in non-hotel lots, etc.
