2017 Mud Hens/Walleye/Hensville Employee Scholarship

Provides educational scholarships for part-time employees (defined as those working 1,000 hours or less per calendar year) of the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club, Inc., the Toledo Arena Sports, Inc. (dba Toledo Walleye), and/or Hensville attending a two or four year accredited post-secondary institution. Individuals may be enrolled as either full-time or part-time undergraduate students. It is anticipated that one scholarship in the amount of $2,000 will be awarded. The scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years after the initial scholarship award. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.


1. First-time applicants must possess an employment record with the Mud Hens, Walleye or Hensville reflecting the following: A part-time employee working 1,000 hours or less per calendar year; employee must have worked at least 250 hours before applying for an initial scholarship award; and verification of this record is provided by the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club, the Toledo Arena Sports, Inc., and/or Hensville.

2. The applicant must be planning to pursue undergraduate study (full or part-time) at a two or four year college/university, or other school of the student’s choice accredited by one or more of the accrediting bodies belonging to the “Council on Post Secondary Education.”

3. Recipients may have their scholarship renewed for up to three years if additional study is needed to complete a degree or certificate. To be considered for renewal, a recipient must re-apply each year and show progress toward their degree.

Scholarship recipient(s) will be chosen by Toledo Community Foundation's Scholarship Advisory Committee. In selecting recipients for this award, the Committee will consider the following:

a. average to above average academic achievement;

b. involvement in extracurricular and/or community activities;

c. financial need; and

d. brief essay on living and working in the Toledo region.

In assessing the above criteria, the Scholarship Advisory Committee will take into consideration information submitted on the scholarship application, transcripts/academic records and all attachments.
