High Jump equalizes access to education for middle school students who have exhibited exceptional academic ambition and potential, but are of limited economic means. We provide academic enrichment, guidance, and support to students of diverse backgrounds, with the goal of sending our participants to superior college preparatory schools, ensuring their success while they are there, and enhancing their ability to gain admission to highly regarded four-year colleges and universities.
PRIORITY DEADLINE: January 19, 2018
Students who submit all academic documents by this date will receive priority consideration for the program.
FINAL DEADLINE: February 12, 2018
This is the final deadline to submit all academic documents and be considered for the program.
FINANCIAL AND RECOMMENDATION DEADLINE: March 1, 2018
This is the deadline for students who receive a letter stating they academically qualify for the program and must submit the required financial documents and recommendation forms to be considered for an interview.
INTERVIEWS: April 2 - April 30, 2018
Students who qualify both academically and financially will move on to the final stage of the application process, the interview.
• Student applicants must currently be in the sixth grade.
• Students must have achieved a B or higher average in core subjects and have scored at or above the 70th percentile on fifth grade Math and Reading standardized test. High Jump students typically earn more As than Bs.
• Submit academic documents (2 student essays, 5th & 6th Grade report cards, Spring 5th Grade standardized test scores) and ALL SECTIONS OF THE APPLICATION by February 12, 2018.
• Meet financial eligibility requirement, which is determined on a case-by-case basis and after all qualified applications have been reviewed. The parent(s) or guardian(s) with whom the student resides, who claim the student as a dependent on their income taxes and/or who have custody of the student are required to submit proof of income documentation by March 1, 2018.
Note: Financial information is reviewed by authorized High Jump staff only, and is not shared, distributed or released to outside parties. Review of financial information is strictly to determine a student’s need and eligibility for High Jump’s academic enrichment program.
