Description

The Moline Foundation is a community foundation established in 1953 to support the needs of the Quad City region. With a volunteer Board of Directors, it serves as a catalyst and leader in ecouraging philanthropy and channeling resources to meet Quad City area needs. The Sherrard Academic Foundation is an affiliate fund of the Moline Foundation.

Requirements

-Applicant must be a 2018 graduate of Sherrard High School, Sherrard, Illinois.
-Applicant must have maintained and provide proof of a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale during the first seven (7) semesters of high school.
-Applicant must provide proof of class rank and a transcript of seventh semester courses.
-Applicant must have been involved in at least one service oriented activity or organization in his or her school, community or place of worship.
-Applicants must submit an essay to the Selection Advisory Committee explaining your personal educational goals and any unique qualities or information that would be relevant. Also write a statement defining your need for financial assistance. Maximum 200 words.
-Three $1,000 scholarships plus two $750 scholarships to graduating seniors from Sherrard High School will be awarded through the Sherrard Academic Foundation (SAF):

One $1000 scholarship funded by the Farmer's State Bank of Western Illinois will be awarded to a student attending a four year, two year, or vocational school.
Two $1000 SAF Scholarships and two $750 Holdsworth Scholarships will be awarded to students attending a community college, vocational or technical school. The funds will be paid directly to the educational institution. Students must enroll on a full-time basis. (Full-time basis means carrying at least 12 semester hours).
-Submit 2 letters of reference.
-Only completed applications will be considered. An application includes completion of all required information on the application form, seventh semester transcripts (including complete list of courses and grades received, rank in class, and grade point average), and essays to the Scholarship Selection Advisory Committee.
