Established by the family and friends of Dr. Tetalman, and funded by the Education and Research Foundation for SNMMI, this award honors the research accomplishments of a young investigator who is pursuing a career in nuclear medicine. Dr. Tetalman was a highly respected and productive clinician, researcher, and member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging before his tragic death as a young man.
A $5,000 award check and plaque will be presented at the SNMMI Annual Meeting in Philadelphia (June 23-26, 2018). This award is offered every other year.
Nominees must exemplify outstanding achievement in basic science applied to nuclear medicine.
Applicants must be 36 years of age or younger as of July 1, 2017 and no more than 7 years from having obtained certification in nuclear medicine or nuclear radiology, or in completing a PhD program.
Applicants may be nominated by a member of SNMMI or apply themselves.
Along with this brief online application completed in entirety, required nomination materials include:
• Current curriculum vitae
• A maximum of four (4) letters of recommendation, two (2) of which must come from the applicant’s institution. At least one of the recommendation letters must be from a SNMMI member.
• A maximum of three (3) manuscripts and/or abstracts of grant applications submitted or funded describing the applicant/nominee’s research efforts.
• A letter (2 pages maximum) from the candidate stating why he or she is qualified for this award.
