2012-13 STP Assessment Resource Grants

To support projects which develop assessment tests/instruments/processes to demonstrate student acquisition of goals 2, 4, or 5 of the APA Guidelines
for the Undergraduate Psychology Major(
Acceptable resources developed through this grant will be distributed by STP.

1. Narrative. Describe the project and the test/instrument/process to be developed. Provide enough detail for a reviewer to assess the feasibility of the project. Include a proposed timeline. Describe sample sizes, demographic information,etc. of the proposed evaluation. Include statements indicating that the treatment of participants will meet the guidelines set by APA and that Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval will be secured.
2. Budget. The total award cannot exceed $2,000. Direct expenses incurred in the conduct and dissemination of the research are allowed. Such expenditures could include software, equipment,books, supplies, summer faculty stipend, travel to conduct and present research, and payment
of participants and student research assistants. The grant funds cannot be used to pay for general equipment such as computers and printers.
3. IRB Approval. Include a statement from the IRB that the project has been approved or is under review. Projects under IRB review must present evidence of IRB status. Grant funds will not be released until IRB approval is verified.
4. Curriculum Vitae. Include a one-page curriculum vitae of the principal investigator, including accomplishments relevant to instructional or assessment research.


1. Applicants must be faculty members of Psi Chi and STP (see or for information on becoming a member).
2. Proposals must include a plan to perform at least a pilot evaluation of the materials developed during the grant period (from July 31 of the submission year to June 1 of the following year).
3. Preference will be given to proposals that include Psi Chi undergraduate members as research assistants.

1. Applications must be an electronic document written in English conforming strictly to the instructions in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA).
2. The description of the project (excluding title page, abstract, references, and appendices) should not exceed six pages in 12-point font (double-spaced).
